Hey bass freaks! I'm interested in which 15" cab is your favorite, why, is it horn/CD loaded, do you use it with other cabs, and what sort of sound do you go for?

looks like we might be listening for a while Mr. Diaz! Doesn't seem as though the 15's are as popular as they used to be...

I played through an Aguilar DB115 and thought it was pretty awesome, especially if you like an old school tone. It's a pretty balanced sounding cab considering the Aguilar DB series tends to be very midrange heavy.

HI
I dont use one any longer but for a couple years I gigged an Epifani UL 1x15 under an Epifani UL 2x10. Setup sounded killer. Id seriously look at either Epifani or something from Bergantino

I've tried this one at store & was pretty impressed. http://www.mesaboogie.com/Product_Info/Bass_Cabs/ScoutCABS/Scout-1x15-LG.htmThe best 15" I ever played was a JBL tuned ducted port cab they designed specifically for their 15" K series drivers.(Plans were provided w/ the drivers at that time) ***Fran - that's the one Rick was using on the "Reno" DVD I think. Looks identical. The JBL 4530 short thro (scooped) cab was also a monster but the size of a small frig. B.

I've been using two Schroeder 15+Ls under either a Genz Shuttle 9.0 or a Mesa Walkabout for the past year or so. Very lightweight and portable and decent sounding.

does anyone know anything about the Hartke HyDrive cabs? I've had a few people say really good things about them. Victor Wooten uses them, so they can't be terrible, but I'm not the sort of person who gives credit to hardware just cos someone famous uses it. Any info would be good...

For vintage tone, the old blonde Showman "tone ring" cab w/ JBL sounds great. I've used an old Bag End 1x15 with lots of tube heads and it's quite nice. The king though, is the Bergantino NV215. What a fantastic cabinet, pairs very nicely with a tube head and a Sadowsky bass. Will take all you can throw at it and then some.

I'd love to gig a couple of 15's, but truth be told, I don't really need them. Maybe if I win the lottery I can have a roadie even if I lose money on the gigs.

well, I got around to trying the HyDrive cabs. I bought them. I was thinking of running two 15 cabs, but I've stuck with the 410 and 115 combo. I think they have great definition, attack that really does the Sadowskys justice and a surprising versatility given the hybrid cone. Both are horn loaded, but that can be attenuated or switched off. The 410 has great low end response, and the 15 is earth-moving. That sucker is LOW!!! I know there's a great big endorsement cheque in it for Mr. Wooten, but I can see why he uses them. (funnily I didn't like the LH1000 he uses, I found it underpowered, my 400watt head kicks its ass)
Peace - Rhys
P.S. - I would very happily use two 15's, they are superb cabs, but the 410 give it a little extra something, and I needed to bring impedance to 4 ohm

I recently picked up a used Jeff Berlin Combo by Markbass with a 15" speaker. The combo is the best sounding amp I have ever used. I am going to add a 15" Marbass extension cabinet in the future to maximize the power of the head in the combo.
