Hi

You might be interested to hear my M5-24

Very nice indeed! With that beautiful flamed top, it has to be a NYC Modern 5 and not a Metro. (M5-24)

Oops - I stand corrected. When I bought it, from Kevin, no one mentioned what it was called. I assumed the M meant maple (fingerboard). Nevertheless it is a great bass.

Since my last post in August, the string of choice for my M5-24 has changed. While the Fat Beams I recommended do sound very good with my particular bass, the Sadowsky Blue Label SS have taken over the top spot. I also have a NYC Modern 24 (also ash/maple) that has been sporting the SS, but I'm thinking the Blue Label nickles may just be a better choice.

Well here you go, Will Lee himself playing a Modern. Enough pillow for my tastes..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCkx5O7zUU0&feature=youtu.be

I'm thinking of seeing him in Ithaca NY on 9/29. It's been years since I've had the pleasure.

I saw Gordon in Toronto in 1968!  I was a college student at Geneseo, just south of Rochester at the time.  Don,t remember if it was Massey hall or not, but it was a gorgeous theater.

Geneseo is still a great little town!

I tried a bunch, and decided the strings that worked best on my M5-24 were DR Fat Beams. The fit my playing style and and desired tonal goal. With that said, they may not be the best solution for you
